Weekend Results

It certainly wasn't the type of weekend we were hoping for, but it wasn't terrible none the less.

In Jackson we started on the front row of the heat, and the engine just wouldn't take off like it should.  We ended up running 2nd in the heat which we'll take due to the engine.  We started 3rd in the feature and once again the engine just wouldn't take off like it should.  Luckily we were able to maintain our position and wind up 3rd for the night.  Congrats to Wade Nygaard....he was bad fast and nobody had anything for him!

We went into Husets hoping to cure our engine taking off, and by the end of the night we were successful thankfully.  We won our heat race, and started 11th in the feature.  We knew the feature would be a tough road because the track was narrow and heavy at the start of the feature.  By the middle of the race though the track had worked itself into a nice racy track.  We managed to work our way up to 2nd, and the red came out....and we were put back to 3rd for some reason and couldn't get around them in the last 3 laps.  I just want to congratulate Robby Wolfgang on his first feature win.  The first of many I'm sure.  Overall for the fans it was a great night of racing, and we're proud to be a part of it!

Next up the 360 Nationals with Don Droud Jr.  Here's hoping for a decent showing!

Quick Note

We're seriously thinking of racing in Jackson this Saturday.  We really need to get this motor on a half mile again and see if we can get the thing to run like it really should before the 360 Nationals.  Not that it's running bad, but it's just not in that "sweet spot" yet.

So I guess it's more than likely Jackson this Saturday and then Husets on Sunday.  Then it's off to the 360 Nationals next week!  We qualify on Friday night, and all features are on Saturday.  Sunday night we're entered into the Brodix Tournament of Champions for another night of racing in Knoxville.  Let's hope for the best!  See everyone at the races!

A quick reflection

Just looking back on the season so far, and we're still in awe of the accomplishments so far.  We've been very fortunate and lucky at the same time to be able to run as well as we have so far this year.  Even on nights when we haven't put a "W" in the column, we've been pretty darn good.  Thinking back to the race in Jackson where we dnf'd with Travis....that was a show we could have won with the car we had that night.  The three different races we finished 2nd at Husets.....we were easily the fastest car on the track all of those nights, but ran out of laps or the track was not conducive to passing once we'd gotten to 2nd place.  A pair of 8th place runs at Spencer and Huron were both decent days for us as well.  Spencer we started last on a track that was horrible, and managed to look pretty good, and Huron was a good showing with the big boys in town.

So many people to thank at this point.  All of the guys that have helped us work on the car up to now....Joe Vosburgh especially.  He's the one who has stuck with this team the entire time, and is always ready for the next challenge we face.  Dalton has come along nicely this year and is a valuable person in all phases of our operation.  Jake Leighty has been around us some again this year, and his help is appreciated immensely.  Trolly and Jody have been making their weekly trips us to help with whatever we need during the week.  TJ and Zack have helped at the track anytime we've needed them.  They're a riot to be around...and you just never know what they're going to say next!  Certainly we appreciate everything Jody has done behind the wheel of the car.  He's simply driven the wheels off of the car every time he's been in it!  Travis did a great job the first race of the year as well.....and he easily could have won that race.

Of course we couldn't do any of this without all our sponsors.  Tri State Truck Wash, AHT, Steve's Truck Repair, Tritz Pallet, 95.1 the Eagle, B&J Oil, Pro Shocks, Weld Wheels, Robison Racing Products, Rosy's Raceland, Maxim Chassis, and Ringers Gloves.  We've also had a few bonuses put up for us to win this year which we've been able to collect.......and we need to thank Bernie (Brian Woizeschke) from Windom, and Pat and Kendall from Applied Software in Beresford, SD.  Every little bit we're able to collect to help with the finances of running a race team helps!

Most of all, we want to thank the fans!  The feedback we (and everyone else that races) gets when the races are over is priceless!  There's no better feeling than having people come down and tell us how much they like your race car, or how cool they thought it was that you won.  There isn't better feeling in the world than after you've worked hard all week, and raced on the weekend to have the people come and show their appreciation when it's all over with!

Here's hoping to a successful 2nd half of the year!

Husets 7-13

The ups and downs of racing fell upon us last night.

We started the heat race from the pole and got a good lead built up.  Going into turn 1 on the last lap I saw a puff of smoke come from the engine.  I immediately had the sinking feeling any local race team gets when you see something like that, but held out a little hope waiting to see what was up.  Coming off of turn 2 though I noticed Jody wasn't at full speed and knew we'd blown our engine up.  We immediately pushed the car out to the trailer as soon as the track was clear during the last heat race of the 360's and went to work on changing engines with hopes that we could get back in time for the feature.  With the help and hard work of our crew and Jody's crew we managed to get the job done!  Special thanks to all of those guys......Joe, Jake Leighty, TJ Geerdes, Trolly, Dalton, and Jody!

We started outside the 4th row of the feature, and worked our way to 3rd in about a lap or two.  Then the rubber started to come down on the track and made it pretty tough for anyone to pass.  Luckily we found something a little lower on the track than the 1st and 2nd place cars and were able to get by them with about 4 to go for our 9th win of the year at Husets.  Jody did a great job of driving once again, and we can't thank him enough!

I wanna give a mention about Casey Abbas again.....he looked pretty darn good again last night, and really may have been the fastest car on the track last night.  As I've said here before, he'll be in the winners circle soon.

Husets 7-6

It wasn't the best track we've raced on this year, that's for sure, but we made the most of some lapped traffic and managed to win the feature in a pretty good race.

We started on the pole for our heat race, and Jody took off a little early.  The car starting outside of us was in the slick part of the track, and didn't hook up at all either, so it actually made it look worse than it really was, but nonetheless we were sent to the back of the heat and ended up running 3rd on a narrow track.  The feature looked to be interesting as the track was really slick tonight with really only one good line around it, that being the top of the track.  We started 7th and quickly made our way to the top 5.  After a few cautions, we were able to catch some lapped traffic and make the pass for the lead.  We really needed the lapped cars to come into play as the 2 leaders were pretty good out front on their own, and made mistakes as they got to the lapped cars which allowed us to go by.  After a caution with 4 to go, Jody was able to set sail, and looked pretty good out front for the win.

We have to thank Kendall and Pat from Applied Software in Beresford, SD for putting a $100 bonus on us to win.  I was able to talk briefly with them after the races and they're great fans and nice people as well!  We also want to thank all the fans that have been coming down and chatting after the races!  Everyone who's come to look at the car and those who have bought t-shirts from us!  You fans are all the greatest, and we love getting the interaction and feedback from everyone!

Looks like Husets will be our only stop of the weekend.....and we hope to see everyone there!

Spencer

What can you say about a daytime show other than, "Why do we punish ourselves into coming to these things?".  The track was horrible, and racing really isn't what I'd call what we were doing on that track.

We felt good about our draw and started 3rd in the heat.  That's when problems arose.....we had a spark plug that melted in our engine and the engine wouldn't take off, it wouldn't run, and finally just died.  That relegated us to a start at the back of the field for the feature.  We were actually lucky to make it out for the feature....we didn't have a great set up in it because we were fixing the motor issue.  Jody made some nice moves and found a spot on the track before the others did, and managed to make his way to 8th which on that track is a pretty good feat!

All in all we ended up alright after all that happened, and we've still got to thank the gods for the little amount of bad luck we've suffered so far this season!  Next up:  Husets on Sunday!

Undisputed Champs

Team Crown had to show we're a little versatile last night, and go to the Rock Rapids home volleyball court for the big showdown.  We won pretty handily over Team Hawkeye.

OK, enough of the trash talking.......we all had a great time!  There really isn't much better in life than spending time with good friends and family.  It was nice to see everyone that showed up for our gathering last night.....some people who we haven't seen for a little while.  We want to thank everyone for their hospitality and the good time!

Filling everyone in on the comments

I'm sure most people are reading the comments below and wondering just what the heck they're talking about.  Last year we started this volleyball challenge with the guys from Rock Rapids.  It's alot of trash talking, and a few adult beverages involved, but's a tremendous amount of fun!  So it's team Worthington (Team Crown)vs. team Rock Rapids (Team Chickenhawk) this Wednesday night.  So if anyone sees or hears any trash talking, remember it's all in good fun.  We're all great friends and enjoy hanging out with them every chance we get!
