Weekends Results and Stories

This weekend was pretty much a roller coaster when it was all said and done.  We worked pretty hard getting everything ready for this weekend and the next few coming up.  Luckily we came out of it with all our equipment for the most part.....minus one rear end.  Friday night on the start of the heat race, we banged wheels with another car a little, and from that point on something was apparently wrong with the rear end.  Two times in the heat race the car popped out of gear, and that relegated us to the B feature.  We thought it was a shifter cable problem, so we made sure everything was tight and made a few adjustments to that, went out and won the B with no problems.  The A feature we looked to have a decent run after passing 5 cars in the first corner, but the problem resurfaced again.  Popping out of gear is not good for any of your equipment, so Brian pulled the car in.  Saturday in Slayton we weren't sure what to expect, but what we found was a good track to race.  We ran 3rd in the heat, which gave us a starting spot in the dash.  We started on the pole of the dash, and simply left the field.  Winning the dash is big, because that gives you the pole for the feature.  Once again, we simply left the field and had more than a straightaway lead before hitting lapped traffic.  With 13 laps to go, the caution came out and we had a cushion of a lap car again.  With about a straightaway lead again, we hit lapped traffic with 5 to go, and it didn't really matter at that point.  Jody kinda rode it out knowing he had an almost insurmountable lead at that point.  It was nice to win knowing you have the fastest car in the infield that night.  Jody did an awesome job driving the car, and I don't think anyone could have asked for anything more.  Next up is the 360 Nationals with Don Droud, JR.  See everyone at the races!

Another One in the Trash Can

Well, here we go once again.  We've lost another race we planned on....this time due to the track canceling the race.  Owatonna has decided not to race this Thursday, so we now move on to Friday.  I've talked to Brian this week, and we're a go for Friday night in Hartford (barring a weather situation).  Saturday we're still a go for Slayton with Jody Rosenboom.  In other news, our new shirts should be in next week.  I'm not sure that we'll have any for this weekend...but it could be a possibility.  If I find out any different, I'll be sure to post something right away, and I'll have a few pictures of the screens up on the site as well.  Here's hoping to good weather for this weekend, because I've got a serious itch that needs some scratching!  See ya at the races!

Ugh!!

It seems like every time we get plans made this year, something comes along and messes the whole thing up!!  This Friday we'll not be racing in Denison.  I could rant and complain about it, but I'll just give the good ole Forrest Gump line, "That's all I have to say about that.".  We'll see where this leaves us from here on out....but I wouldn't look for plans beyond this race to change.  I'll update you when I have more.

Weekend Happenings

Saturday in Jackson was good overall.  We learned a little about our newest engine.  We started 8th in the heat, and managed to make it to 5th.  I was a little disappointed that the track blew off as fast as it did, and I didn't get the changes made to the car that we needed to go further forward.  Starting 10th in the feature, we managed to work our way to 4th.  We had the car pretty good, and Jody drove a good race.  We needed more gear in the feature though, and that comes from still learning what this new motor needs.  Over all though we're happy with the way the engine performs, and we can add another week to the books of keeping the tires on the ground!  This week it's Friday in Denison, and possibly a return to Jackson on Saturday.  We'll see what happens, and see you at the races!

360 Nationals and the upcoming events

We've reached a deal with Don Droud, Jr. to drive at the 360 Nationals for us.  We feel he is a good choice and will run well at Knoxville.  Don has been a fixture in the upper midwest sprint car racing scene for several years now, and held the track record at Knoxville for quite some time until a few years ago.  Here's hoping for another A main finish for Team Crown this year!  We will be racing quite a bit in the next month, and here is what we have for a schedule at this point:

Saturday July 14 - Jackson, MN   Jody Rosenboom

Friday July 20 - Denison, IA   Brian Brown

Saturday July 21 - Eagle Raceway     TBA  we may race this night, we'll see what happens

Thursday July 26 - Owatonna, MN   Brian Brown

Friday July 27 - Hartford, SD   Brian Brown

Saturday July 28 - Slayton, MN   Jody Rosenboom

Thursday August 2 - 360 Nationals   Don Droud, Jr.

Saturday August 4 - 360 Nationals   Don Droud, Jr.

Tuesday August 14 - I80   Brian Brown  (we're pretty sure)

Wednesday August 15 - Hartford, SD   Brian Brown

Friday August 17 - Jackson, MN   Brian Brown

Saturday August 18 - Jackson, MN   Brian Brown

Beyond those days at this point is up in the air at this time.  I'm sure we'll find a few other races between now and then that we'll plan to race.  Hope to see everyone at the races!!

Thank You Everyone!!

All your comments are greatly appreciated!  There are alot of great names listed, and it seems there are some strong supporters of drivers.  I will say this much, we have been in contact with someone who we think can run up front for us at Knoxville, and we'll announce hopefully by the end of the week who will drive the #27 at the Knoxville 360 Nationals!  I'll give you all a clue.....the person has been mentioned in the comments!  In other news, we are currently working on the artwork for the new shirts, and we're hoping to have them by the 26th for the 3 day swing we have that weekend.  I'm more optimistic about having them for Knoxville though.  I haven't seen the art yet, but hopefully in a day or two we'll get a look at what we hope everyone in the stands will be wearing soon!!  We'll see who or where we'll race again next....you never know there could be a possibility of us at the track this weekend.

Interesting

The comments so far are interesting!  There are some good choices so far.  Actually a few of them I know are planning on racing there already, and have things in place to do so.  One thing we know for sure, is we would like someone with Knoxville experience and laps there.  It's the type of place that takes experience to get around really well, and on a 2 race deal you've got to be on your game to run well.  I will say we have made a few contacts at this point, but have nothing in place yet.  Hopefully in the next day or two we'll have a little more steam behind us in this endeavor!  Keep the comments coming!!  No name is too big or too small!!  In other news, Owatonna rained out AGAIN!  Something about the place just never seems to go right when they have a sprint show.  Hopefully we'll be able to race once before we get out and run the ASCS shows we're planning on this month prior to the 360 Nationals.  Hope to hear from everyone!

Here's a test for everyone.....

We're now without a driver for the 360 Nationals.  Clint has obligations to the sponsors of his car, and they've asked Clint to drive his car for the remainder of the year, so we wish him luck!  Now, the test for all the visitors to the site......Who would you like to see driving the 360 Nationals for us in 4 weeks?  You may leave an answer in the reply section immediately after this post.  We're hoping to get someone by early next week, so you've probably got the weekend to get comments in!  Let us know what you think, and we'll see what happens from there.  Once again racing on Sunday this weekend in Owatonna, we hope to see you there!

Updated Schedule

We'll be racing this upcoming Sunday in Owatonna, MN for the open show they have.  We're looking forward to getting our new motor on the track and getting the thing up and running like it should we hope.  Travis Whitney will pilot the car for us that day and we hope to have a good night.....the races start pretty early in the day so let's hope they get alot of water on it so it's not a dry one lane track!!  Following that, we'll be in Denison, IA on July 20th, Owatonna again on July 26th, Hartford on July 27, and Slayton on July 28th.  Then it's off to the 360 Nationals where we hope to have a good outing again this year!  See everyone at the races!
