Weekends Results and Stories
This weekend was pretty much a roller coaster when it was all said and done. We worked pretty hard getting everything ready for this weekend and the next few coming up. Luckily we came out of it with all our equipment for the most part.....minus one rear end. Friday night on the start of the heat race, we banged wheels with another car a little, and from that point on something was apparently wrong with the rear end. Two times in the heat race the car popped out of gear, and that relegated us to the B feature. We thought it was a shifter cable problem, so we made sure everything was tight and made a few adjustments to that, went out and won the B with no problems. The A feature we looked to have a decent run after passing 5 cars in the first corner, but the problem resurfaced again. Popping out of gear is not good for any of your equipment, so Brian pulled the car in. Saturday in Slayton we weren't sure what to expect, but what we found was a good track to race. We ran 3rd in the heat, which gave us a starting spot in the dash. We started on the pole of the dash, and simply left the field. Winning the dash is big, because that gives you the pole for the feature. Once again, we simply left the field and had more than a straightaway lead before hitting lapped traffic. With 13 laps to go, the caution came out and we had a cushion of a lap car again. With about a straightaway lead again, we hit lapped traffic with 5 to go, and it didn't really matter at that point. Jody kinda rode it out knowing he had an almost insurmountable lead at that point. It was nice to win knowing you have the fastest car in the infield that night. Jody did an awesome job driving the car, and I don't think anyone could have asked for anything more. Next up is the 360 Nationals with Don Droud, JR. See everyone at the races!
