Another Championship earned

9/8/2009

Labor Day Weekend brought the end of the year at Husets Speedway, and the final charge to another Championship for the #27 team at Husets Speedway.

Sunday night gave all the racers a little curveball with a track that was very rough and narrow. Driver Jody Rosenboom started the feature event in the outside 2nd row position, and quickly made his way to 2nd place. Trying valiantly to make a charge to the lead, Jody showed his nose a few times, but as he made his best run for the point, caution flew over the speedway and the leader knew where he had to run to keep Jody at bay. “Man, I thought I could pull that one out, but right when we had the line and run to get by, a caution comes and takes it away. My hats off to Dusty Ballenger. He did what he had to do to keep us behind him and he did a great job overall”, said Jody after the race.

Monday brought a different type of race track, and a great outlook for everyone. “The track was slick and tricky, and that’s what we like to see”, said team owner Jason. “We felt like we had a really good shot at winning that race. We have a lot of experience setting the car up for that type of track and I thought we were gonna be in our wheelhouse there.” Tragedy for the team ensued and a throttle linkage broke as Jody went out on the track to line up for the feature. “I know I speak for all of us when I say that we didn’t want to end the season this way at Husets. I just hate the fact that it happened at that time. If it would have happened at any other time, we could have fixed it, but it’s not just something you can fix in a matter of a minute, so we weren’t able to get back out. It irritates me that this is how it ends!” said Jason. “We’re still lucky to have had a good year here, and to be able to do what we love. We’ll mark this one in the books and look toward the future”

The team will be in action one final time for the 2009 season at Park Jefferson Speedway on Sept. 18 for the JSTS series finale.

A Good Weekend and A Milestone Reached

A Good Weekend and A Milestone Reached

Racing in front of car owner Jason Johnson’s home town, the Team Crown Racing crew felt a little added pressure to put up a good finish, and that’s what they did when all was said and done. After winning the heat from the pole position, driver Jody Rosenboom started on the inside of the 2nd row for the feature event. After several laps of mostly single file racing, Jody was able to slip by the 2nd place runner of Curt Lund and take home a 2nd place finish for the event. “We really wanted to come away with a win here in Jason’s home town, but we just couldn’t quite pull it off, but 2nd is a pretty good showing”, said Jody. “I got pretty excited there when the two leaders were racing with each other, because I thought I could benefit from them duking it out, and be able to slip by. I was able to get one, but the other just didn’t pan out!”

Sunday night brought the team to the familiar grounds of Husets Speedway, and Jody was looking to make a little bit of his own history. A 5th place run in the heat provided a great starting position for Jody after the draw for the feature. 2nd row outside starter Jody made a few moves in the first 4 laps to take the lead and never look back. “Jody ran a great race as he always does at Husets. He just knows his way around this track so well, and can run places a lot of others can’t and still make a lot of speed” said Jason. “I’m just so proud of his accomplishment, and am lucky to be a part of making history with him. He deserves to be the leader in all time wins in this class after all the hard work he’s put in as far as learning to drive this track. I hope we can keep adding to his total throughout the rest of this year. In a side note, my son Dalton raced back in Worthington and had a heck of a run. I’m pretty proud of everyone around me right now, from our driver and crew, to all of the people that make this possible in our families and sponsors.”

Big Weekend of Racing

8/24/2009

With races on three consecutive nights, the #27 sprint car and it’s team were hoping to be on top of their game. The crew felt confident they could run respectable if not well at the Jackson Nationals, and they ended their two night run with a 9th place finish in the big race. Night one the team suffered through engines woes once again and they pulled in for a DNF in the A feature. Jason Johnson says, “We just can’t seem to get a handle on this one motor. One time the thing runs like a dream, and the next it’s just flat and not competitive. We finally decided we’re going to bring the other motor over, even though it’s not as big in horsepower, but that thing just runs no matter what we do to it. Jody made an error there at the start of the feature, but outside of that he looked pretty fast. It’s too bad that the track was one lane the whole weekend. I feel bad for everyone involved, from the racers to the fans. It’s frustrating for the racers because you just have a heck of a time passing, and for the fans because it’s just pretty boring to watch like that.”

Sunday night saw the team at Husets Speedway once again for Hall of Fame night. Starting 10th, the team caught a break before the feature even lined up on the track. Due to engine failure of another car, the #27 moved up a row to the 8th position. By lap 11, driver Jody Rosenboom was able to make his way to the lead and wouldn’t look back over the last 7 laps to score his 3rd win of the season. The win also ties Jody for the most career wins at Husets Speedway in the 360 division at 27. “This car and engines just works so flawlessly at Husets” says Jody. “We have a great team and every time we get on the track here, I feel like we have a shot at winning.”

The team will be back in action this coming weekend in Worthington, MN on Saturday night with the JSTS, and on Sunday at Husets for their weekly program.
